Prof. Emily Wilcox is the Honorary Academic President of ADRPA (Asian Dance Research & Practice Association) and Professor of Chinese Studies at William & Mary. She is a 2024 Guggenheim Fellow. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Chinese dance and performance cultures, as well as modern Chinese cultural studies.

Prof. Wilcox received her B.A. from Harvard University (2003), M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge (2004), and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (2011). From 2008 to 2009, she conducted research at the Beijing Dance Academy as a Fulbright Scholar, and from 2011 to 2013 she held an International Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Shanghai Theatre Academy.

She taught in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan (2013–2020) and was promoted to tenured Associate Professor in 2019. Prof. Wilcox has served as President of the Association for Asian Performance, a board member of the Society for Dance History Scholars, and a board member of the Dance Studies Association. She currently serves on the board of the Twentieth-Century China History Association and as a representative on the China and Inner Asia Council (CIAC) of the Association for Asian Studies.

Her monograph Revolutionary Bodies: Chinese Dance and the Socialist Legacy received the 2019 Book Award from the Dance Studies Association, and the Chinese translation was published by Fudan University Press (2023). She has also edited several influential volumes, including Corporeal Politics: Dancing East Asia, Inter-Asia in Motion: Dance as Method, and Teaching Film from the People’s Republic of China. Prof. Wilcox has published over 30 scholarly articles in both Chinese and English.

魏美玲(Emily Wilcox)教授為亞洲舞蹈研究與實踐協會(ADRPA)榮譽學術主席,現任美國威廉與瑪麗學院(William & Mary)中國研究教授,並為2024年古根海姆獎(Guggenheim Fellowship)獲得者。其研究方向聚焦於現當代中國舞蹈與表演藝術文化,以及現當代中國文化研究。

魏教授於2003年獲哈佛大學學士學位,2004年獲劍橋大學碩士學位,並於2011年獲加州大學伯克利分校博士學位。2008至2009年,她以富布賴特學者(Fulbright Scholar)身分赴北京舞蹈學院訪學研究;2011至2013年,於上海戲劇學院擔任國際博士後研究員。

魏教授曾於2013至2020年任教於密歇根大學亞洲語言與文化系,並於2019年獲終身教職。她曾擔任美國亞洲表演藝術學會會長,並曾任美國舞蹈史學會理事、美國舞蹈學協會理事等職務;現為二十世紀中國歷史學會理事,並擔任亞洲研究協會東亞委員會(CIAC)代表。

其專著《革命的身體:重新認識現當代中國舞蹈文化》曾獲美國舞蹈學協會(DSA)2019年著作獎,並於2023年由復旦大學出版社出版中譯本。此外,她亦主編多部重要學術文集,包括《身體政治:舞動的東亞》(Corporeal Politics: Dancing East Asia)、《流動中的亞際:舞蹈作為一種方法》(Inter-Asia in Motion: Dance as Method)、《新中國電影教學》(Teaching Film from the People’s Republic of China)等,並已發表中英文學術論文三十餘篇。
